Muscular, salted, savoury.
The entire Escorihuela 1884 series has seen a facelift; the new label is more elegant, but not a huge departure from previous vintages.
Harvested from estate grown fruit from Agrelo, the 2020 vintage is more salient than recent vintages; toasted spices, tire rubber, espresso, leather, Earl Grey tea and licorice root aromas dominate. The palate shows grilled black plums, espresso, salted licorice and soy sauce flavours. The finish is silky, the tannins integrated.
It's a wine for dense proteins, such as hard cheeses, grilled mushrooms and roasted meats.
Pairs great with Gone Crackers Parmesan & Rosemary
